This class will provide a one day intensive to whet your whistle and tease your appetite for our upcoming six week Orchestral Kitchen.

 

- Techniques for arranging and producing orchestral instruments

- As with all BKS classes, a current residency is required

The prerequisites for this class are basic DAW proficiency (see: DAW Core Skills) and familiarity with mixing tools (see: Effects Synth Mixing Primer)

 

With a focus on readily available orchestral libraries (Spitfire BBC free Orchestra), this course will set out to teach techniques to help you make more musical and realistic arrangements regardless of where you source your recordings. At the conclusion of this course you should expect be familiar with:

 

- Utilizing the sections of the orchestra (or orchestral library) effectively

- Understanding articulations and dynamics

- Use of an orchestral template

- Mixing for Orchestra

 

This includes a short break as well as a working 'lunch'. We'll reconvene to peer review your work and provide an additional Q&A session.

 

You'll have the rest of the month to participate in resident meetings and get support in office hours

 

Residency will begin the day before your class begins
